This online form was designed to capture content reviews for the 2024 IASP World Congress. IASP’s World Congress on Pain is the largest gathering of pain professionals in the world, bringing together more than 5,000 scientists, clinicians, and healthcare providers from around the world and across pain disciplines. More than 400 international speakers with comprehensive sessions will address the latest pain research and treatment.

Content Validity

Fair Balance
Does the content and presentation of a drug's most important risks must be reasonably similar to the content and presentation of its benefits? This does not mean that equal space must be given to risks and benefits in print ads, or equal time to risks and benefits in broadcast ads.
Brand Names vs Trade Names
Commercial Bias or Evidence of Marketing
Does the content include logos from drug or device companies? Are there trademark, copyright, service marks present? Does the content promote a particular company or proprietary interest?
Scientific Rigor
- Are clinical studies cited from credible sources, eg, peer-reviewed journals?
- Does it discuss concepts in terms of generally accepted standards of experimental design, data collection, analysis, and interpretation?
- Does the content advocate for unscientific approaches to diagonsis or therapy?
- Does the content include promote recommendations, treatments, or manners of practicing healthcare that have risks or dangers that outweigh the benefits OR are known to be ineffective in the treatment of patients?
Meeting Learning Objectives
The content I reviewed meets the expectations for the continuing professional development of healthcare professionals. It includes 'A range of learning activities through which health professionals maintain and develop throughout their careers to ensure that they retain their capacity to practice safely, effectively, and legally within their evolving scope of practice.' (NIH)
Content addresses topics relevant to clinical practice, practice management, research and educational methodologies, coding practices, etc.)
Nonclinical topics such as personal finance do not meet this expectation.
